Allow me to introduce myself

Well, look who finally got around to buying a domain name and website for herself.

That would be me.  Not that you were wondering.  Maybe you’re wondering about the “finally got around to” part, but that’s what this introduction is for.

You see, I’m a writer.  Not officially – in title or practice – but I aspire to be one.  I love to read (fiction, non-fiction, news articles, blogs, everything) and am always amazed at the things, and the idea of writing something that others would also read and find inspiration in excites me.  I’ve started and lost interest in things like novel writing a couple times, so I’m going to assume that’s not for me.  Besides, creative plotting is not my thing.  Perhaps I could do short stories, but, again – creative plotting, even if the content is shorter.

No, I think I’m better at non-fiction.  I like to tell people about my life, I like to create things physically, and I like to consume the creative output of others.  So I think I’ll write about that.  As of today – the first non-holiday weekday of the new year – I’m going to try to write something every day.  Whether that’s a link to an interesting article I’ve seen lately and my thoughts, a project I’ve finished, a recipe that I’ve made, a show or movie that I’ve watched, a book I’ve read…I’ll talk about that here.  I might even talk about the things going on in my personal life every once in a while – my travel, my family, my friends.  But since this blog isn’t really about them, I won’t be naming them by their real names.

As for me, I really am Maggie Keller.  I’m a librarian, I work for the federal government, and I live in Arlington, Virginia.  I have a cat (Winston, pictured above), and I’m really hoping that I’ll be able to keep this up.

They say the best way to keep your resolutions is to make them public.  Well, this is mine.  I want to be a writer, and I’ve got to start somewhere.
